An excellent teaching tool – Charles Handy, author and philosopher

I read John’s  first book – Old World, New World and the Real World – a few years ago. Building the Pyramid is an updated and advanced version of the Pharaoh’s journey and the lessons we can all learn as leaders. The book is packed full of leaderships tips which can be applied in any organisation serious about growth. I particularly liked the way in which he has linked useful learning points to the visual map images of the journey. John’s understanding of leadership and the importance he attaches to communicating complex ideas into digestible pieces of advice and insight shines throughout the book. Cleverly written, practical and visually very interesting. –  Sam Johnston, Senior Manager, NHS

Building the Pyramid is an unusual way of teaching us about leadership on the growth journey. I have to admit, I am not a lover of ‘storytelling’ and its use in the learning world. However I surprised myself. I really enjoyed the book. I read it over a couple of tube journeys to work. The book is easy to read and easy to dip in and out of. The storyline theme has been crafted to reflect the ‘real world’ of work. I could relate to the leadership issues highlighted throughout the book and I thought the tips and checklists were very useful. I will be recommending this book to my boss – Graham Smith, Director

I read this book in under two hour and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell that John Stein has worked with many leaders. His description of the Pharaoh is uncannily accurate, in fact I could name the guy he modelled the storyline on. He reminds me of an entrepreneurial friend of mine. The book is a ‘must read’ for anyone serious about growing their business. – Ian Carter, entrepreneur.

This book may have the same reaction as MARMITE. You will either hate it or love it. I loved it – particularly the relevance and description of the growth journey, Also the leadership exercises, checklists, visuals and pieces of advice are invaluable. –  June Smith, Leadership Coach, Surrey.
