The Lighter Side of John

I currently (28 February 2014) feel optimistic, excited and reflective (well I have a new book coming out soon).

I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and I now live in the beautiful Roman City of Chester. I inherited my father’s sense of humour (good) and his hairline (not so good).

I once held a leadership position with brewing giant, Guinness. My Gallup Strengths Finder profile is Activator, Focus, Learner, Maximizer.

I founded the winning (formula)® in 1994.

My friends would describe me as passionate, direct, principled and fun to be around. My clients would describe me as passionate, direct, principled and fun to be around.

I have a passion for life, my work, storytelling, music, sport and all things ancient Egypt. I smile when my favourite jacket still fits me. I frown when I can’t find the remote control. I laugh at my father’s one-liners and jokes.

I am told I look like Daniel Benzali (Murder One fame).

My favourite motto in life is ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’. A close second is ‘the best is yet to come’.

My first love was Shep.

My Desert Island top three musical tracks would be ‘State of Independence’ by Donna Summer, ‘Good Times’ by Chic and ‘Sunshine on Leith’ by the Proclaimers.

My favourite film is ‘In the mood for love’ by Kar Wai Wong

Around the table my ideal dinner party guest list would include Tutankhamen, Cher, Bill Clinton, J K Rowling, Peter Kay, Maria Bartiromo, Neil Armstrong, Audrey Hepburn and Bill Gates (it’s a big table).

My professional heroes are Charles Handy and Ken Blanchard. I admire Richard Branson even though he did not have the time to review Building the Pyramid.

I love my family, chinese food, all things Mauritian, Hibernian Football Club, beef wellington and the voice of Stevie Nicks.

My dearest wish is that you buy Building the Pyramid.

I am least likely to say ‘it is out of stock’. I am most likely to say ‘best wishes on your journey, wherever it may take you’.
